Description

The keybase filesystem occasionally asks me to re-authenticate before it will give me access to it, but that authentication only happens as a window that pops up on the desktop. This makes it impossible to authenticate over ssh, so I have to be physically present (or use some sort of remote desktop) to enter the password.

The command line client does allow me to authenticate from the command line, but as far as I can tell, that session is separate from the authentication required by KBFS. The way the two are related is unclear to me.

Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are named. Start by tracing how KBFS requests re-authentication on OS X and how command-line authentication is handled, then determine whether the sessions can share state. Done means a user connected over SSH can re-authenticate KBFS without a desktop window.
