Android, 120hz display, major performance degradation

Noticing severe performance issue using keybase on a Pixel 7 Pro. Confirmed with other Pixel 7 Pro owners, they experience the same problem. The app becomes unusable in less than a minute.

Disabling the "smooth display" (enable 120hz) setting in the OS seems to resolve the issue, at least partially.

I haven't noticed the same performance problems on any other apps, however, I did hear from one other Pixel 7 Pro user that they were having similar problems with other apps (without mention of the 120hz display setting).

No file, test, or entry point is identified in the report. First reproduce the degradation on a Pixel 7 Pro with smooth display enabled and disabled, then profile the app to locate the cause and verify that performance remains usable with 120Hz enabled.
