Description

Running macOS 12.1 on an Apple Silicon macbook, I downloaded the Keybase.dmg file from this page - https://keybase.io/docs/the_app/install_macos.
I then opened the DMG and dragged the Keybase app to the Application folder.
When I tried to open the Keybase app from the Application folders, I got the following alert:
“Keybase” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the installation from the macOS install page using the downloaded Keybase.dmg on macOS 12.1 with Apple Silicon. Check the app-opening behavior after copying it to Applications; done means the installed Keybase app opens without Apple’s malicious-software alert.
