Description
This is a major shortcoming of Keybase chat in my opinion. You cannot tell when someone is AFK or busy. So you end up messaging them until they re-appear.
The addition of an "away message" capability (a la AIM—AOL Instant Messenger) or a user status field (like in Jabber/XMPP) would solve a lot of hassle for a lot of people. Especially those who are attempting to use Keybase teams for internal business communications.
Do please seriously weigh this feature request. Thank you!

Research direction
No files, tests, or entry points are identified in the issue. Start by locating Keybase chat's user-presence and messaging components, then determine the scope for storing, exposing, and displaying an away message or status; done means the status is available to relevant teammates and covered by tests.
