Description

Keybase GUI Version: 5.2.0-20200130015427+cf82db8320

I'm sure this is very specific to the intel graphics; so fingers crossed you have a developer machine that can recreate it.

Issue: type /giphy keyword in the desktop app and watch your display driver restart. afterwards green boxes show momentarily instead of the inline thumbnails, making me think it's an overlay transparency layer bounding box issue or something like that.

The following corresponding events can be observed in the system and application logs:

event ID: 4101 - Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
event ID: 9027 - The Desktop Window Manager has registered the session port.
event ID: 1001 - Fault bucket , type 0
Event Name: LiveKernelEvent
Response: Not available
Cab Id: 0

...current drivers and firmware for laptop, windows 10 fully patched standard consumer release branch.

FYI and thanks.

Research direction

No source file or test is named. Start by reproducing the /giphy flow in the desktop app on Windows with the reported Intel graphics setup, then correlate the display-driver and application log events with the inline thumbnail overlay. Done means the driver no longer resets and green boxes do not appear during thumbnail rendering.
