Opening Public Folder using GUI client shows empty folder

Description
I noticed that when I use the GUI client on OSX and click on the folder button (upper left), the public folder will show empty. In a split second you see the contents of the folder, after that the folder will show empty. However, when I browse directly to it with OSX Finder, or using the commandline, the folder shows it's contents normally.
