Unable to track location in the background (Android)

I recently discovered the /location command, handily built into the app. This could mostly replace the Glympse app for me (except for those occations when I want to share my location with non-keybase users). I like the privacy that I get when using Keybase to share my location.

However, it seems that the Keybase app on Android is having trouble tracking the location in the background. For instance when I'm on my bike, or if I'm on the tram and using another app.

Is this something that's possible to solve in the app?

Is there some settings I should set in Android to allow the app to update my location in the background?

I'm using a LG V40.
