Description

[Erroneous Behavior]
The image of the mapped network drive changed after adding it to the system.

Capture

[Environment]
Windows 10 Pro 1903 (18362.418)
Keybase up to date as of 20191027

[Extended Information]
Keybase was installed, I had drives mapped for letters k->w (excluding s). I fixed a missing drive mapping (s) and when updating group policy on machine the drive showed up with a new drive icon.

I went into keybase settings to try and remove anything that might have been relevant. I tried un-ticking "Explorer Integration" (Enable Keybase in Explorer) and was greeted with the error "Please uninstall Dokan from the Control Panel." I went to check control panel -> add and remove programs for Dokan and could not see anything.

It seems like in the settings -> files, the folders have been added automatically (despite not existing, the user only has read access).

I tried uninstalling Keybase, disconnecting the drive and rerunning gpupdate /force and the icon was there when the s: drive synced again.

[Expected Behavior]
1 - Keybase should not automatically add explorer integration.
2 - Unticking "Enable Keybase in Explorer" should remove icons, settings, etc.
3 - Uninstalling Keybase should remove all traces of it from the system.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the report on Windows 10 with a mapped network drive, Keybase Explorer Integration, and the Files settings enabled. Check whether adding or syncing the S: drive changes its icon and whether disabling Explorer Integration or uninstalling Keybase removes the icons, settings, and other traces described in the expected behavior.
