Description

I just started using the KBFS and strangely, smaller files are shared amongst devices (they show up on a newly registered device). However, files of greater size, seem to not sync automaticcaly. I am not sure about the threshold, yet files of >500mb were not showing up.
I am actually not a fan of automatic syncing, yet I didn't quite understand, how to download or the files to a client on another device. For exampe curl keybase://private/<user>/myfile would not work for obvious reasons.

Or wait: now that I see it, on my other laptop, it still says "Encrypting and updating items... 11hr left" which wasn't shown earlier. Maybe this is about UI and letting the user know what the state of a file is. Anyhow, this might be for a 5gb file, another 300mb file is downloadable on the client where I copied the file into the kbfs folder.

Research direction

No source files, tests, or entry points are identified. First reproduce syncing and downloading for files over 500 MB on a newly registered device, then determine whether the issue is transfer delay, missing status feedback, or an unavailable download path; done should include a confirmed behavior and an agreed fix scope.
