Description

I've been having this issue for a while but I could not properly pinpoint the source. Now I got some lead on where it originates, but I need to test some more to be certain. Opening this issue to gather intel mostly as in whether someone else has seen this behavior with KB on Ubuntu (17.10).

In short: when I start the Keybase client my computer either logs me out of Ubuntu or then it puts my computer to sleep.

I have Keybase client run on boot, meaning it often happens after a fresh boot. After I relogin or wake from sleep it does not happen again (until next fresh boot). Sometimes the issue does not appear after a fresh boot, but that is quite rare.

Today Keybase for some reason did not start on boot. I worked a little on the computer and then needed to access Keybase. I started Keybase manually, and right as the client dashboard opened, my computer logged me out, closing all applications and files I had open.

But as I said, need to investigate if Keybase is the actual culprit here. Any pointers on how to debug or maybe even fix this?

I'm on Ubuntu 17.10 on a Dell laptop (Latitude 5xxx series). Keybase is latest 2.6.0 available from PPA. My user is the only PC user account.

Research direction

No source files, tests, or entry points are identified. Reproduce the behavior on Ubuntu 17.10 with Keybase 2.6.0, first when the client starts at boot and then when it is launched manually, and gather debugging information to determine whether Keybase triggers the logout or sleep. Done means the cause is confirmed and a focused fix or a clearly documented non-Keybase cause is established.
