Description

I'd love a preference setting that would allow the menu bar item to be disabled. I'm fine to launch an app window when I want to change something, or to use finder integration once it's working again (#9390).

Research direction

Start by locating the desktop client’s menu bar item and preference handling; the issue does not name files, tests, or entry points. Review the related Finder integration issue (#9390) for context, then define the preference behavior and verify that disabling the item still allows launching the app window or using available integration.
