Research direction

Reproduce the tray-icon popup on Windows 10 with the task bar positioned vertically on the left, using the linked screenshot as the expected failure. Trace how the popup menu determines its position relative to the task bar; done means the complete menu remains visible in this configuration and existing tray behavior is preserved.
