Bug: Check and rerun event simulation if jobs crashed

Inner if statements do not trigger desired rerun of simulation

The issue provides no file, test, or entry point; begin by locating the inner conditionals that handle event simulation jobs and file rewriting. Check the cases where the event count stays the same, the particle type changes, or a job crashes, and verify that the simulation is rerun and its files are updated in each required case.
