c64 plasma example crashes in VICE

I was able to compile and execute the C code for the plasma example using the release from https://github.com/llvm-mos/llvm-mos-sdk/releases/latest/download/llvm-mos-linux.tar.xz (SDK v23.0.1) on VICE 3.9 successfully. I compiled the code on windows WSL and tested on VICE on windows.

However, when I tried to repeat the process using zig (https://github.com/kassane/zig-mos-bootstrap/releases 0.17.0-dev), the program crashes. I can't tell if the error is due to code generation or a bug in the code.
