Description

I recently bumped into this Atom package named Variolite :
http://marybethkery.com/Variolite/index.html

In short, this allows to make multiple versions of a chunk of code and getting it back in a click.
As a notebook user that tends to copy the same notebook to continue exploring the data I'm working on without losing a "working" version, I would really like to do it more efficiently.

What is your opinion about that?

Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by reviewing Jupyter Notebook's existing save and version behavior and the linked Variolite example, then clarify whether versions apply to cells or whole notebooks. Done requires an agreed scope and acceptance criteria before implementation can begin.
