Research direction
Reproduce the issue using the Safari 5.1.1 and Mac OS X 10.7.2 steps described, comparing the keyboard shortcut with the working toolbar icon. Inspect Snipe's shortcut handling and determine how Ctrl+Alt+Space can activate Snipe instead of being treated as whitespace; done when the shortcut activates Snipe in Safari.
