Feature request - Get JSONPath based on cursor location in text mode

Would love to have the ability to get the current JSONPath based on the cursor location in text mode, but I don't think with the current features/events this is possible at the moment. Is this something that can be achieved or is this too hard in text mode?

Start by reviewing text mode and the current features/events API to determine whether cursor location can be mapped to a JSONPath. Identify the relevant editor entry points and event behavior before proposing an approach. Done means text mode exposes the JSONPath for the current cursor location with clear behavior and coverage for the supported cursor cases.
