Reading .xls from URL

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.I want to read .xls from remote system ( url )

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expected the file output but it is saying file is readonly. I also given
permission to the remote .xls file.

Please provide any additional information below.
