Research direction
Start by reproducing the error with VS Code 1.28.2 on macOS 10.14.1, the jaredly.reason-vscode extension, and an .ml file. Trace how the language server loads compilation data and reports that no root directory was found. Done means opening an .ml file no longer produces this error, with the behavior checked against the reported setup.
