Description
[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Message_Queuing_Protocol](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Message_Queuing_Protocol)
AMQP adds support for a number of the same things that JMS supports today, and adds to that model. I believe that by JMS 2.0 supporting the AMQP model it allows for cross-system integration, as well as cross-language integration.

Research direction
The issue names AMQP and the existing JMS model but provides no files, tests, or implementation entry points. Start by reviewing the Jakarta Messaging specification areas that define JMS messaging semantics and compare them with the linked AMQP model. The issue does not define a concrete scope or acceptance criteria for determining when support is complete.
