Bedrock crafting

Hi,
I'm fairly new to Minecraft and using this docker image to set up a bedrock server for my kids. When testing it yesterday in survival mode, it seemed that a lot of crafting recipies were missing. I could not build a sword for instance, but only structures. Does that require a mod pack or is something wrong?

Start by reproducing the report with the Docker image in survival mode and checking the server configuration and selected Bedrock version. Compare the available crafting recipes with expected Bedrock behavior; the issue is done when the cause of the missing recipes is identified and either corrected or clearly documented.
