Description
One of our users reported php out of memory errors in the FileStorage.
Is there any chance to e.g.
- reduce memory footprint
- use a memory efficient serilalizing strategy
- prevent this errors from happening
- would using a bzip stream-wrapper improve efficiency https://www.php.net/manual/en/function.stream-get-wrappers.php ?

Research direction
Start by locating FileStorage and determining how it serializes and stores data, then reproduce the reported PHP out-of-memory error. Compare the memory footprint of the current approach with possible stream-wrapper or serialization alternatives; done means the cause is understood and an agreed memory-efficient fix prevents the error.
