Description
I wonder if you could move the "arrows" key to the center, separate from the "esc" and "settings" keys. It took some time for me to get used to this four-arrow-in-a-key setup. I have learned to do up and down quite well by sliding my finger from one side to the other. However, left and right arrows are trickier to slide because the escape key is so close by. Note that there is some extra space between the first and second rows of keys, and that little space seems to help the sliding quite a bit.
My personal preference would be four separate arrow keys, but I understand that space may be limited on a smartphone.
By the way, after using iSH for a couple of weeks, I became really fond of this virtual machine. I now have a fully functioning texlive, despite the buggy installation process noted in [#1056](https://github.com/ish-app/ish/issues/1056#issuecomment-878567756). Although I initially installed iSH to use LaTeX, I have found many useful apk packages for dealing with texts, pdfs, images and videos. These packages accomplish many functions that are missing from the app store. THANK YOU!!!

Research direction
Start by locating the iOS keyboard or input UI that renders the combined Arrows key alongside Esc and Settings. Compare the available layout space and existing arrow behavior before choosing a placement. Done means the arrow controls are easier to use on a phone without disrupting the surrounding keys.
