Description

Summary

This is an issue to discuss if there could be a simple way to restart or reset a switch and apply the latest ZTP script without always necessarily reinstalling SONiC.

Basic example

Request switch reset
    -> restart the switch
    -> run the latest ZTP script
    -> continue using the existing SONiC installation

Motivation

Applying an updated ZTP script currently requires going through the full SONiC installation flow. For configuration-only changes, it might be possible to restart or reset the switch, apply the fresh ZTP configuration, and keep the installed operating system unchanged.

Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are identified in the issue. Start by tracing the existing SONiC installation and ZTP flow, then establish whether a reset can safely reapply the latest script while preserving the installed system; done requires an agreed lifecycle and implementation scope.
