Description

Motivation

To offer a simplified customer network architecture we want to explore the possibility of having a flat IPv6 network without an overlay or RFC1918-style VPCs.

In Scope
  • Implement IronCore-compatible network component for the hypervisors.
  • Handle address assignment out of the host IPv6 prefix.
  • Report IPv6 address back to IronCore.
  • Investigate potential API changes in IronCore to support this new network model.
  • Go library to serve as network library for compute hypervisors.
Out of Scope
  • Production-grade implementation.
  • Hardware offloading.
Acceptance Criteria
  • Public repository containing PoC implementation.
  • Successful setup to run VMs with at least one hypervisor with at least two servers.
