Description

What should we add?

Similarly to #127 -- does this code support unstructured global models?

I think at least the STOFS model is indeed global -- it's only global to provide boundary conditions for the US -- so maybe no one needs to subset it accros the dateline -- but if they try, it should either work or raise an error.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the existing global-grid behavior and the related discussion in issue #127. Investigate how an unstructured STOFS dataset is subset across the dateline, then determine whether the expected result is working support or a clear error; done means that behavior is implemented and covered by an appropriate test.
