Description
Over 400,000 work and book records have titles or subtitles ending in parenthetical edition names:
https://openlibrary.org/search?q=title%3A+%22Edition%22
These can be distinguished from parenthetical series names by the presence of the words
“ edition ” or “ ed. “ within the parentheses, these being rare in a series title.
These edition names should, on import, be moved into the edition field where they belong, so that they do not spuriously produce different records with and without the parenthetical appended. Existing records need mass data cleanup.
