inconsistency between lbt08 & lbt07

there are inconsistency between lbt07 and lbt08, in the following

1. the direction mapping is different.
1. lbt07 use data-based directions if exists
2. lbt08 use "B", "H", "L" things pre-defined
3. the preprocessing is different
1. the preprocessing in lbt07 is similar to other templates, filtering or adding variables
3. the preprocessing in lbt08 involves creating a totally new analysis dataset?
