InfluxDB 2.1.1 backup is slow

Hi,

We have an issue with backup execution time, it’s taking too long time, its around 1 day and 12 hours. currently we are using influxDB 2.1, the total databases size is 500GB.

Before 1 months, we upgraded from 1.8.4 to 2.1.1, the execution time for backup before the upgrade was 2 hours only.

Directly after the upgrade, the backup took around 20 hours, the size of database was 650GB, then after one week, the backup took longer time and backup finished in around 1 day and 20 hours, with almost same db size.

We applied retention policy, and the size of db reduce to 500GB, the backup execution time reduce to 1 day and 12 hours, and its still high

Any idea, why the backup taking longer time after the upgrade? why its is increase from 2 hours to more than a 1 day?
Any suggestion to reduce the backup time?
