Description

For Ubuntu distributions the influxdb repos only contain the latest stable release of telegraf:

https://repos.influxdata.com/ubuntu/dists/bionic/stable/binary-arm64/Packages

All other distributions contain multiple historic releases.

This causes issue as we consume telegraf and influxdb as upstream dependencies in some of our projects, and we specify telegraf versions to ensure stability, when new release of telegraf comes out, the previous release is removed, causing CI to break and an immediate need for a version bump in new and existing installations of our projects.

Is there a reason for this behaviour in just ubuntu?

Research direction

Start with the Ubuntu bionic arm64 Packages index linked in the issue and compare it with the package indexes for other distributions. Determine why Ubuntu retains only the latest stable telegraf release and whether older versions can be preserved; done means the cause and an actionable repository change or documented limitation are established.
