Need Full Documentation on Parsing JSON

I cannot find any conceptual documentation that describes how to parse json in a robust way. Would it be possible to get a complete doc that explains all of the ins and outs of parsing JSON? Including:
1. How to make an http.get/post request to get the data and look at the body
2. What to do about: error calling function "parse" @11:12-11:43: array values must all be the same type
3. How to turn the results into time series data?
