Description

IP returned from `ip.address()` is the VM network adapter instead of the ethernet 'eth0' adapter.

Is there an option to set the adapter of choice?
OS: Linux 3.13-generic

Research direction

Start with the `ip.address()` entry point and reproduce the behavior on Linux 3.13 with a VMnet adapter and `eth0` present. Trace how the selected interface is determined and check whether an adapter-selection option can be exposed. Done means the returned address comes from the requested adapter, with coverage for the reported setup.
