Description

It would be useful to have a polynomial shading correction in Ops, similar to Bob Dougherty's Polynomial Shading Corrector plugin.

It could be separated into three reusable modules:

  • creating the polynomial fit function from an image along the given axes,
  • clipping at zero and adding a regularization parameter, and
  • dividing the original image by the function image.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the existing Ops architecture and the referenced Polynomial Shading Corrector plugin, since the issue names no specific files or tests. Define the three reusable operations described in the issue, then add coverage showing polynomial fitting, zero clipping and regularization, and division of the original image by the resulting function image.
