DESIGN SPIKE: Improving the discoverability of the H client.

### Background

It isn't always obvious to users that H exists on a page and the discoverability of the sidebar and affordance to annotate is a known issue. This is evidenced in the feedback received from users and platform hosts.

This spike addresses these concerns and proposes suggestions for how this can be improved.

**Recent Feedback via support:**

#1: biOverlay

We include hypothes.is by default on http://biOverlay.org because we think the service is well-designed for academic commenting. However, some visitors have complained that it is very difficult to discover:

I tried showing the hypothes.is pane by default, but then it is visually unappealing and more importantly makes it impossible to see the actual content on mobile.

Would it be possible to work on a way to integrate hypothes.is into a webpage via the included javascript that has stronger signifiers without totally wiping out the content?

The default use case appears to be for people who installed this intentionally via their browser extension. But it does not currently serve well as a discoverable commenting framework when the site includes it.
