Description
Currently we're able to backport bigfixes to older releases.
1. Does that still make sense?
2. Document WHEN we decide to backport something, not everything is backported.
3. How this is done (via labels).
Currently all the documentation lives in the readme.

Research direction
Start with the README and the current label-based backporting workflow. Confirm with maintainers whether backporting is still supported, then document when it applies and how labels are used; done when the README answers all three questions without requiring undocumented context.
