Props to @spacedmonkey for the link to https://github.com/stuttter/wp-site-aliases
One thing we're missing that would be useful is capability control a la:
https://github.com/stuttter/wp-site-aliases/blob/master/wp-site-aliases/includes/functions/capabilities.php
Especially if we're extending the support out to the REST API and a better base GUI.
