[UPDATE] Replace “AI Agent as Butler” Metaphor with “Power Gloves for Coding”

I’d like to suggest replacing the “AI agent as butler” image metaphor currently used in the course with a more beginner-friendly and empowering metaphor: “Power Gloves for Coding.”

💡 Why the Change?
The “butler” metaphor can carry problematic associations with servitude, class hierarchy, and passive obedience. It suggests that AI exists purely to serve unquestioningly, which:

* Undermines user agency and responsibility

* Obscures the actual complexity and risks involved with AI decision-making

* Reinforces outdated or colonial mental models

In contrast, “Power Gloves for Coding” positions the AI agent as:

* A productivity enhancer, not a servant

* A tool that amplifies human skill rather than replacing it

* A metaphor that resonates with beginner engineers by evoking fun, control, and empowerment

Consider:

“Think of the AI agent like a pair of power gloves for coding — it’s still your work, but the tool boosts your precision, speed, and reach.”

This version encourages learners to feel confident and in control, while still appreciating the value of the AI system.
