Description

[async-std is discontinued](https://github.com/async-rs/async-std), with a suggestion to use [`smol`](https://crates.io/crates/smol) instead.

wonder will `surf` eventually remove the `async-std` dependency, and make the switch?

Or like other `async-std` depended crates, http-rs/tide#921 will this `http-rs/surf` also discontinue? noticed this repo has no much development for over 3 years since 2022;

Research direction

Start by reviewing surf's dependency on async-std and the linked async-std and smol projects. Determine whether the project has a migration path or intends to discontinue; done requires a maintainer decision and a clearly scoped follow-up.
