iPadOS Companion app broken on old iPad

**Describe the bug**
App cannot connect to server "You're disconnected" . Incorrectly requests "Connect to your home network" when already connected.

**To Reproduce**
Try and start the app.

**Expected behavior**
App starts and runs.

Was working prior to update.

iPad IS connected to the LAN and thereby to the Internet. Safari can browse the web perfectly and even accessing the HA server runs as it should. The problem is only the HA companion app.

Cleared the front end cache but no improvement.

App runs perfectly on newer iPad (M4).

No source file or test is named in the report. Start by reproducing startup on an iPad Air 2 running iPadOS 15.8.8, compare it with the newer iPad and Safari behavior, and trace the app's connection-state handling. Done means the companion app starts and connects normally on the affected device without incorrectly requesting the home network.
