Description

iOS device/version
iPhone 16 pro
iOS: 26.2.1
HA Companion app (2026.1766)

**Home Assistant Core Version**
2026.3.1

I can see accurate location tracking on the companion app exactly as required. However, it seems the app does not report this data back to the server consistently which causes some of my location based automations to fail. It is very inconsistent, sometimes works sometimes doesnt.

On opening the app - it comes back to life and pushes the data to the server.

I have background app refresh on
Always allow access to location etc

I've even tried using the high_accuracy_mode switch on via notification to the phone. This has not been in place long enough to confirm if it is assisting here.

I have noticed sometimes I open the app and I get a failed to connect to server then upon hitting retry it works. So it seems the connection to the server goes stale or disconnects in the background so although the app is capturing location - it is unable to communicate.

**Expected behavior**
Send location data to server to trigger automations
