**Android version(s):** Phone: Android 16 Watch: Wear OS 7.0

**Device model(s):** Phone: Pixel 7a Watch: Pixel Watch 3

**Home Assistant version:** 2026.6.4

**Last working Home Assistant release (if known):** Unknown

**Description of problem, include YAML if issue is related to notifications:**

Previously, clicking or tapping a complication on the watch face would force an update (usually took a few seconds). Now (unsure when exactly it started), this does nothing. However, if the app is opened (or even just the Android settings for the app are opened), it works for an unknown short period of time. All permissions on the watch are enabled and 'Pause app activity if unused' is UNCHECKED.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue on the Pixel Watch 3 and reviewing the Companion App Logs, comparing taps made before and after opening the app or its Android settings. The fix is complete when tapping the watch-face complication forces an update without requiring the app to have been opened recently.
