Description
I know it may be too close to 'forking' or other things a-shell might not be able to do, but the screen command would be greatly appreciated! I find myself wanting to use ffmpeg in a-shell, and do other file-related things in another terminal window while that is going on. Screen would be a useful tool in that way.
Thanks! The most recent release has quashed most of the bugs I was experiencing before - and all your work is much appreciated!

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by investigating how a-shell runs long-lived commands and supports multiple terminal windows, then determine whether the requested screen command fits those constraints. Done means screen is available for keeping work such as ffmpeg running while another terminal window is used.
