Description

Justification: Now that Sonic Unleashed runs natively on PC, it is accessible to many people with no prior console experience, who can buy a cheap USB gamepad (probably from the same shop that they bought their second hand copy of Xbox 360 Sonic Unleashed from) and start playing; However they will find the Playstation and Xbox button conventions to be quite alien

Given that virtually all gamepads nowadays have a straight-cross 4-button layout, I thought it would be more intuinitive for the button prompts to reflect this. It focuses on the position of the button, rather than the labelling of the button which can differ across gamepads. Also people generally play at higher resolutions today, compared to the original era of the game, so visibility and legibility should not be an issue.

There is a caveat, however... There needs to be an additional screen in the setup for mapping the buttons of an unknown gamepad, in case the button numbering is different

Research direction

Begin by locating the controller button-prompt implementation and setup flow, then review how unknown gamepads are mapped. Done would mean generic positional prompts are supported and an additional setup screen handles button mapping for unknown pads; the issue names no files or tests.
