Describe the Bug

After watching a cutscene in Professor Pickle's Lab in either Spagonia or Shamar and then exiting back to the world map (presumably after you've visited all the Gaia Temples, in my example it was just before I went to Eggmanland) the world map is full of various trail indicators and Gaia Temple indicators instead of being clean even though these parts of the planet have been restored.

Steps to Reproduce
  1. After Restoring the 6th Chaos Emerald in Adabat, Go to Professor Pickle's Lab (Either Shamar or Spagonia)
  2. Watch a cutscene or cutscenes on the TV
  3. Leave and see the world map.
Expected Behavior

The World Map looks clean and just has the country flag indicators as opposed to the trail and pyre visuals.

This is, in fact, an original game bug present in the XBOX 360/PS3 versions as well. Please see the below:

Research direction

Start by reproducing the listed sequence: restore the sixth Chaos Emerald, watch a cutscene in Professor Pickle's Lab, and return to the world map. Investigate the world-map state after leaving the lab; done means restored areas show only country flags rather than trail and Gaia Temple indicators.
