Why are renamed field names displayed in table view?

I expected original names for column headers, as in the insert form.

Start by reproducing the table view shown in the attached screenshots and compare its column headers with the insert form, which displays the expected original names. Trace the table-view field-label handling from that reproduction; done means renamed fields are represented by their original column names in table headers.
