Description
[Imported from JIRA. Reported by Tim Watson [Administrator] @hyperthunk) as NTTCP-4 on 2013-02-06 11:24:25]
This is not a cloud haskell issue at all, but rather it's a GHC one. Nonetheless we should file a GHC ticket at some point to get it looked at.

Research direction
The issue does not name a repository file, test, or entry point; it attributes the problem to GHC rather than distributed-process. First confirm the reported socket performance difference under -threaded and determine the appropriate GHC ticket. Done means the issue is transferred to the relevant GHC tracker with reproducible details.
