Intermittent issues after Oracle plugin and Oracle instant client is upgraded

Hey all,

We are running Vault version 1.18.2.

When we run Oracle plugin version 0.4.2 and Oracle instant client version 19.10, we are able to generate credentials to 100 different Oracle databases regularly without issue.

When we upgrade to running Oracle plugin version 0.10.2 and Oracle instant client version 19.23. Intermittently Vault will constantly time out attempting to generate credentials to certain databases until either the plugin is restarted or the connection to the database is reset.

When we introduced a script to stop the plugin on the hour and half hour, it appeared to stop time outs but introduced another issue. i.e. intermittently, Vault is unable to start the plugin again after it is stopped when receiving a request for the Oracle plugin. Switching the leader to another node was a quick fix in this case.

Unfortunately, we have had to roll back in the environment we are seeing the issues and are unable to replicate the intermittent issues in other environments.

Any insight would be very much appreciated.
