How to validate the gossip encryption.

I have used the encrypt key in my config file. I have checked the status of gossip protocol. It is set to true. but I didn't find any difference even after removing that option. Can anybody help me how to validate that! How I can verify that encryption is happening through gossip protocol. Thanks in advance.
