altgr (aka right option on macs) interpreted as alt (left option)

My keyboard layout (https://ergol.org/) has many symbols accessed using altgr (for instance `#` is `altgr[B]`). Although it generally works in Firefox, I cannot use these in codimd, as `altgr` seems to be interpreted as `alt`. Is there a way to distinguish the two?
