Description
The `?thread` macro sometimes fails.
This doesn't happen all the time and I'm not exactly sure what causes it, but it's been reported on Slack a few times:

Research direction
Start by locating the `?thread` macro and reviewing the linked Slack report for a reproducible case. Trace the macro's Slack thread lookup and document the conditions that cause it to fail; done means the failure is fixed and a regression test covers the reported behavior.
